Rainbow
Bridge
Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow
Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close
to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends
so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food,
water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health
and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and
strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days
and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing;
they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be
left behind. They run and play together, but the day comes
when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly
he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass,
his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted,
and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling
together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress
the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting
eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent
from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge ... together...

Every sunrise is a present, a gift from God above,
Gift-wrapped with scarlet ribbons and tied with bows of love.
Each day's a new beginning, a time to start a new,
While all the stars are sleeping, and the rose is fresh with dew.

I
Resign.
I am hereby officially tendering my resignation
as an adult.
I have decided I would like to accept the responsibilities of
an 8 year old again.
I want to go to McDonald's and think that it's a four star restaurant.
I want to sail sticks across a fresh mud puddle and make ripples
with rocks.
I want to think M&Ms are better than money because you can eat
them.
I want to lie under a big oak tree & run a lemonade stand with
friends on a hot summer's day.
I want to return to a time when life was simple.
When all you knew were colors, multiplication tables, and nursery
rhymes,
but that didn't bother you, because you didn't know what you
didn't know and you didn't care.
All you knew was to be happy because you were blissfully unaware
of all the things that should make you worried or upset.
I want to think the world is fair.
That everyone is honest and good. I want to believe that anything
is possible.
I want to be oblivious to the complexities of life and be overly
excited by the little things again.
I want to live simple again.
I don't want my day to consist of computer crashes, mountains
of paperwork,
depressing news, how to survive more days in the month than
there is money in the bank,
doctor bills, gossip, illness, and loss of loved ones.
I want to believe in the power of smiles, hugs, a kind word,
truth,
justice,peace,dreams, the imagination, mankind, and making angels
in the snow.
So....here's my checkbook and my car-keys, and my credit card
bill statements.
I am officially resigning from adulthood.
And if you want to discuss this further, you'll have to catch
me first, because,

The
Truth About Cats
Dogs come when they're called; cats take a message
and get back to you later.
Cats don't like being baptized.
Thousands of years ago, cats were worshipped as gods.
Cats have never forgotten this.
A cat is always on the wrong side of the door.
A cat will always sit on whatever you're trying to read.
A cat's purr: The most effective stress medicine known.
Cats are quite good at domesticating humans.
Anything not nailed down is a cat toy.
Cats know Mom's black suede gloves are giant tarantulas that
need to be killed.
Cats must attack their human's shoelaces when they are tying
them.
Cats must crawl into the dishwasher when it is full of clean
dishes.
It's always darkest before you step on the cat.
Cats must rub against your legs while you're carrying two bags
of groceries.
You're not a real person until you're ignored by a cat.

Man, Cat and Dog.
Adam said, "Lord, when I was in the garden, you
walked with me everyday.
Now I do not see you anymore.
I am lonesome here and it is difficult for me to remember how
much you love me."
And God said, "No problem! I will create a companion for you that
will be with you forever
and who will be a reflection of my love for you, so that you will
know I love you, even when you cannot see me.
Regardless of how selfish and childish and unlovable you may be,
this new companion will accept you as you are and will love you
as I do, in spite of yourself."
And God created a new animal to be a companion for Adam.
And it was a good animal.
And God was pleased.
And the animal was pleased to be with Adam and he wagged his tail.
And Adam said, "But Lord, I already named all of the animals in
the Kingdom and all the good
names are taken and I cannot think of a name for this new animal."
And God said, "No problem! Because I have created this new animal
to be a reflection of
my love for you, his name will be a reflection of my own name,
and you will call him DOG."
And Dog lived with Adam and was a companion to him
and Eve and loved them.
And Adam was comforted.
And God was pleased.
And Dog was content and wagged his tail.
After a while, it came to pass that Adam's guardian angel come
to the Lord and said,
"Lord, Adam has become filled with pride.
He struts and preens like a peacock and believes his is worthy
of adoration.
Dog has indeed taught him that he is loved, but no one has taught
him humility."
And the Lord said, "No problem! I will create for him a companion
who will be with him forever
and who will see him as he is.
The companion will remind him of his limitations,
so he will know he is not worthy of adoration."
And God created CAT to be a companion for Adam.
And CAT would not obey Adam. And when Adam gazed into Cat's eyes,
he was reminded that he
was not the supreme being.
And Adam learned humility. And God was pleased. And Adam was greatly
improved.
And CAT did not care one way or the other.

Cats
1. Stray cats will not be fed.
2. Stray cats will not be fed anything except dry cat food.
3. Stray cats will not be fed anything except dry cat food moistened
with a little milk.

with warm milk, yummy treats and leftover fish scraps.
5. Stray cats will not be encouraged to make this house their
permanent residence.

cuddled unnecessarily.

will absolutely not be given a name.
8. Stray cats with or without a name will not be allowed inside
the house at any time.
9. Stray cats will not be allowed inside the house except at certain
times.
10. Stray cats will not be allowed inside the house except on
days ending in "y".
11. Stray cats allowed inside will not be permitted to jump up
on or sharpen their claws on the furniture.
12. Stray cats will not be permitted to jump up on, or sharpen
claws on the really good furniture.
13. Stray cats will be permitted on all furniture but must sharpen
claws on new £114.99 sisal-rope cat-scratching post with three
perches.
14. Stray cats will answer the call of nature outdoors in the
sand.
15. Stray cats will answer the call of nature in the three-piece,
high-impact plastic tray filled with Fresh'n'Sweet kitty litter.
16. Stray cats will answer the call of nature in the hooded litter
pan with a privacy screen and plenty of head room.
17. Stray cats will sleep outside.
18. Stray cats will sleep in the garage.
19. Stray cats will sleep in the house.
20. Stray cats will sleep in a cardboard box lined with an old
blanket.
21. Stray cats will sleep in the special Kitty-Komfort-Bed with
non-allergenic lambs wool pillow.
22. Stray cats will not be allowed to sleep in our bed.
23. Stray cats will not be allowed to sleep in our bed, except
at the foot.
24. Stray cats will not be allowed to sleep in our bed under the
covers.
25. Stray cats will not be allowed to sleep in our bed under the
covers except at the foot.
26. Stray cats will not play on the desk.
27. Stray cats will not play on the desk near the computer.
28. Stray cats are forbidden to walk on the computer keyboard
on the desk when the human is using it.
